Ah yes, there is nothing quite like a London pub on a summers evening. I took these shitty photos when I was hanging out with some mates outside the Chelsea Potter last June. Good times.

The Cortinas

I managed to catch these boys playing at the Roxy, London, back in 77, one of my favourite bands. I also remember the support band being good too but for the life of me I can't recall who it was, It was a long time ago. It was probably Eater, someone like that, most likely Eater, Dee Generate was always at the Roxy, every time I went he was there. In fact I think he was the pot boy for awhile, collecting empty glasses for a few quid. He was 14 or 15 years old but looked more like he was only about 11.
I had a Dansette record player with a worn out needle at the time. Remember those things? you could stack a whole load of 45's on the post thingy in the middle and they would play one after the other automatically. If you put on too many they would start sliding around and the records would slow down and speed up. I think I must of worn the grooves off my Fascist Dictator/Television Families 7", I played that fantastic piece of vinyl to death.

The New GK Magazine

We got to spend quite a lot time hanging out with Guy in Japan, actually it wasn't really hanging out it was more sort of drinking beer and singing 70's UK punk songs. Very good times. Anyway this is issue 19 of GKM along with Hidemo's killer shovel on the cover. Get it H"E"R"E. And think about this, the owners of the publishing houses who put out all those newsstand magazines don't know the difference between a Panhead and a Puch Maxi. They just like collecting the spondoolies at the end of each month. So the thought for the day is "Keep it independent"

"...I have completely cracked up.
I bought Bryan Hall's '74 Ironhead Sportster Bobber.
He called me a 'stand up rad dude.'
I asked my teenage son what that means, and he replied it was a compliment.
I find the bike irresistible. It has authenticity. Bryan took a stock '74 beater and reframed it, made the handlebars himself. Bent the tubing around the tree in his backyard! How cool is that? I plan to leave it basically as it is. I am drawn to this bike because of the originality, craftsmanship and honesty of the design. Lord help me..."

The Getty
My mum was in town for a few weeks so we took ourselves off to the Getty Center for the day. I had been meaning to go for donkeys yonks. What an amazing place. In 1984, Richard Meier was chosen to be the architect (and what a god job he did too) The construction was significantly delayed, with the planned completion date moved from 1988 to 1995. By 1995, however, the place was described as only "more than halfway complete". The Center finally opened to the public on December 16, 1997. The 134,000-square-foot Central Garden is the work of artist Robert Irwin. Irwin was quoted as saying that the Central Garden "is a sculpture in the form of a garden, which aims to be art." So there you have it.
Next time you're in LA and you've done all the bike things head on over here for a break, it's well worth it. I of course forgot my camera so ended up taking these pics on my iPhone (what a handy gadget) that's why they are a bit wonky.
