Just what I need...another project. My friend got this 1954 Cadillac 331 OHV V8 from an old Hot Rodder. 0.30 over pistons...adjustable rocker arms...Offenhauser valve covers...old chrome...and ahem, a rather wild homemade intake with 4 SU carbs. Of course it will never run properly and Of course it needs completely rebuilding...I bought it anyway because it's ridiculous.
Yes, but it's gloriously ridiculous, those inlet runners are outta this world . . . a modest rebuild wouldn't go astray, the Offy covers are the sheeit.
ReplyDeleteJust need an old WAY=AND intake stuck on there and Bobs yer uncle! killer valve covers.
ReplyDeleteKeep the manifolds and carbs Dean, it will run great. The works TR7 V8 and SAAB V4 rally cars both had crossover manifolds like that. Anyway they look the bollocks.
ReplyDeleteJust have to get a small car to put it in.

i have a 55 Cadillac series 62 with a 331 in it. to rebuild the damn thing just for parts alone is upwards of 5,000 dollars. I considered dropping a later model cadillac engine in that possible a 500. 331 just doesn't get it enough hp for that big old boat.
